As managing attorney of

Barry E. Witlin, P.A., Barry Witlin has 25
years of legal experience as a litigator concentrating in the areas of Family
Law and Criminal Defense and is a Florida Supreme Court certified mediator in
Family and Civil Law. He has represented clients in over 25 states and has
handled appellate work at every level including the United States Supreme
Court. Born and raised in
Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Witlin received his Bachelor
of Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana and his Juris
Doctorate degree from Loyola University School of Law. He became a member of the Illinois Bar
Association in 1978 and the Florida Bar Association in 1980. In 1981 he was licensed to practice
before the United States Supreme Court as co-counsel in the landmark case of
Illinois v. Gates. This case was heard twice by the United
States Supreme Court and marked the first time the United States Supreme Court
considered the “good faith exception” to the exclusionary rule of the Fourth
Amendment. With his experience in
case preparation, trials, and negotiation, Mr. Witlin has earned the confidence
of his clients who range from professionals to working men and women, and the
respect of fellow attorneys and judiciary members who regularly refer business
to him. Conversant in Spanish, Mr.
Witlin is also proud of his commitment to the community where he provides pro
bono services, judges moot court competitions at the law school level, and
serves on boards for youth sports leagues throughout South
Florida.
